Pride in Tennis Statement: Trans and Non-Binary Policy.
Pride in Tennis is disappointed by the LTAβs updated Trans and Non-Binary Policy, and we recognise the impact this will have on our trans and non-binary siblings across the tennis community.
This update sits within a wider landscape where trans and non-binary people are facing increasing scrutiny, uncertainty, and barriers to participation in sport and society at large. At a time when many in our community may feel excluded or vulnerable, we want to be clear: our trans and non-binary siblings are valued, supported, and belong in tennis.
Pride in Tennis is not supportive of this direction of travel and believes decisions impacting LGBTQ+ communities in tennis should be shaped through direct dialogue with those most affected. It is vital LGBTQ+ voices and lived experiences, including those from other underrepresented communities, remain central to the future of tennis. We will continue to actively and constructively work with the LTA and its wider stakeholder groups to advocate for a more inclusive future for our sport - one where everyone can access tennis safely, confidently, and authentically.
